Update on my return

Only of interest to the family I suppose but as this is my only means of communication here it is.

I managed to get a room for two nights at an old convent or something, right next to the cathedral on the 4th floor (thanks ksam). It was only 23euro a night too so I am over the moon, great price for a private room and right in the middle of all the action. It is luxury really, I nearly cried with happiness at the sight of a real towel in the bathroom. Still a bunkbed but at least I get the bottom, picture me struggling to the top these past few days after 29miles when I can barely stand.

Unrelated for a second. Does anyone know if you can get Aquarius drink in England? Absolutely hooked on the stuff, especially the lemon one.

I fly back on Friday at 10am, landing at 11am. So tomorrow I may get a bus to finisterre or I may just bum around, this internet cafe is quite affordable. The pain is that I then have to wait around at the airport until 3pm so I can catch a national express bus back to Tamworth which arrives at 8:45pm at the bus depot. I will jump on a bus so I should be knocking on my frontdoor by about 9:20pm. I hope someone is in!

Happier now all that is sorted. I did a spot of shopping and bought myself a camino tshirt. I wanted one anyway but the bonus is that is saves me having to do any washing.

  3. Hi Drew. Padre again, post no. 2 LOL,

A bit of hardship makes you grow. I knew you had hidden depths from seeing them 1st hand when u were young and when we put you thro. hardship on the trails. You just preferred lately to keep them hidden LOL.
BUT I DIDN'T REALISE THEY WERE THIS DEEP [HIGH MILEAGES U HAVE DONE BACK TO BACK], so I've learnt something too, I've learnt alot about from your blogs.Anyone who says they don't learn anything are lying or are dead LOL?
Very sorry about your camera [from a documentation point of view rather than the material object {rather it break than you}].
Your talking to the right person , about Religious buildings and outward rituals and dogmas , I'm only glad you spotted that too.
But even though I follow Sant Mat I'm an old romantic too and I would have loved touching the statue; thinking about all the Pilgrims that have come since the Camino has been going and their God's and what makes them tick. I would have loved the incense burner just like in the film. Again at Campostella time I would have to say 'Other'.
I think you are honest saying it's not a religious pilgrimage.
It's great you were interested in the journey, that's what makes me tick too.
Pity about Finisterre [Perhaps u could see it via a bus {Don't have my Taj Mahal syndrome & regret it for the rest of your life}], pity about Muxia too.
I've got a theory about the last 2 days [It may be well wrong].Reference wikipedia, the shortest distance to get a campostella is 100k walking and 200k cycling, yes? Well if you are getting these types that just want to 'certificate bag' [rude types], then they would have to come in at about Sarria [117km from Santiago], SO THE QUESTION IS : DID YOUR WALK DETERIORATE FROM SARRIA ONWARDS????
IF SO U WERE MIXING WITH UNSCRUPULOUS CERTIFICATE BAGGERS ONLY [NOT TRUE PILGIMS].
You were meeting far nicer people [true pilgrims ] from way out further from Santiago.True, likeable people with good ethics. DUNNO JUST A THEORY from a Camino virgin.

I'm glad you had grown as a person [Glad to see u honest [again] to say not Spiritually {u understand spirituality is within & not without}].
As a dad I would love you to keep the physical ,body strength improvement going.
I'm glad your exploits have made you confident & strong.
Has the searching just begun? Are we talking Sant Mat --- you'd miss the Pork, chicken, steak etc. LOL.LMAO.
But, don't under estimate the DREW [we do at our peril, he will prove us all wrong]. I'm just rambling now.
Good if you have found yourself, some questions solved at least.

  4. COULDN'T FIT THIS WITH THE LAST REPLY, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED 4096 CHARACTERS AT MOST AT EACH COMMENT, TYPICAL OF ME TO OVERCOOK IT!!!!! LMAO

I'm glad you are contemplating still walking thereafter with friend or even Father [I'm proud and honoured to get a mention( wouldn't want to cramp your style) { I would love to do some trail with you}.
Coast to Coast [wainwright], Offas Dyke.

But what really appeals is ALICANTE TO SANTIAGO ( I could get a locum in, {you think you have problems; i haven't found myself at age 54,
TO CLARIFY: I've got it the other way around, I'm very happy spiritually [based on inner fact] and know where I'm going when dead [soul wise that is] but outwardly I'm a mess [the way I treat other people and what I think about other people; that's a work in progress--the Camino would solve this because basically I don't like people, but I could learn to] or ASCENT OF KILIMANJERO [Sp]. The former appeals more.

BTW glad u spotted the impatience thing [it's been a problem in the past as a father, not being able to do things quick enough for you]. Glad you have changed in little ways [Rome wasn't built in a day].
Do u think you have changed enough to tidy your bedroom and clean your car LOVL?
A little change in me [courtesy of Drew] DAD likes blogging, well commenting back at least. LOL.
Was surprised about the homesickness. I would have thought the task would have been so intensive as for you not to notice we weren't there.
DON'T FORGET , IF YOU AGREE, SEND ME ALL THE DETAILS AND I'LL COME AND GET U AT AIRPORT!!!!!!!
    MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT,
    DAD XXX
